Gallery Maintenance

The museum is undergoing a largescale maintenance project to ensure the preservation of the collection for future visitors. Due to this work, certain galleries and individual artwork may be off view during your visit.

American Art Galleries (Galleries 202 through 218) will be closed through spring 2026
Thomas Eakins' Portrait of Dr. Samuel D. Gross (The Gross Clinic) is on view in Gallery 255 through 2026

With over 200 galleries, there is still plenty of art, architecture and design to explore!

We are working hard to keep our online collection database accurate. If the success of your visit relies on a specific artwork being on view - please contact VisitorServices@philamuseum.org to inquire about its status. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 72 hours, depending on the item in question.
